In 2006 AVIASTAR-SP - the biggest aircraft manufacturer in Russia and Europe – celebrated its 30th anniversary.
History. 16 April 1975 the Communist party and Council of Ministers of the USSR signed the decree for founding aircraft manufacturing enterprise in Ulyanovsk. On 28th April Ministry of Aviation Industry issued the order for building Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex. Appolon Systsov, future Minister for Aviation Industry, was appointed UAIC first Director General. 10 June 1976 after land surveying the first pole was driven in the ground. This date is considered the birthday of Ulyanovsk aircraft plant.
