EXCEPTIONAL RESULT OF THE TU-204-300 AIRCRAFT CERTIFICATION TEST
The
TU-204-300 certification test of the emergency evacuation at night was
successfully conducted at CSC ‘Aviastar-SP’. The test represented the imitation
of the emergency landing at night with 50% of exits not functioned as a result
of fire or the door deformation (the TU-204-300 is equipped with
8 exits). As the conditions of the test dictated, passengers were allocated on
board without outerwear, all windows were closed with the light-proof curtains.
Nobody knew which door the evacuation would be carried out through. 155 workers
of CSC ‘Aviastar-SP’, 62 of which are women, agreed to participate in the test.
All participants were of different ages, without previous training, nobody
participated in such events before. For the imitation of the presence of
2-year-old children, 3 special models were made. The evacuation was performed
through 3 doors, according to the foreseen scenario the 4th and 5th doors were
blocked. Three streams of passengers run out to the ground from the height of 4
meters and exactly in 92 seconds all 163 participants (including the crew) were
‘saved’. The result: the evacuation through 4 doors within the 90 seconds limit
went off within 92 seconds through 3 doors. The result proved the emergency
evacuation capacity of 160 passengers through 3 doors. The possibility of
eliminating of 2 front exits for the performance and layout improvement was
submitted for consideration.
