Russia, Ulyanovsk, a city on the Volga river is located at the crossing of the basic transport highways. A place, through which the basic aviation lines are leading from Europe and the European part of Russia to Siberia, to the East and the countries of Asia. Here in 1976 the construction of Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex named subsequantly "Aviastar" has been started. Today "Aviastar" is one of the largest manufacturers of aviation equipment in Russia and the CIS countries, which specializes on production of modern passenger and cargo aircraft of Tu - 204 family and unique transport civil aircraft Аn-124-100 "Ruslan’. Capacities of "Aviastar" allow to produce up to 50 aircraft per year.

On April 16, 1975 – there was a resolution of the Government of the USSR No. 299102 «For Construction of Aviation Industrial Complex in Ulyanovsk».

On April 28, 1975 the minister of the aviation industry of the USSR Dementyev P. V. signed the order for construction in Ulyanovsk a complex from three plants: aircraft constructing, modular and instrument-making. It was also planned to build machine-tool factory, plants on production of aviation engines and consumer goods.

Systsov Apollo Sergeyevich who held earlier a position of the chief engineer of the Tashkent aviation production association of V. P. Tchkalov was appointed the director general of the new enterprise. He subsequently became the minister of the aviation industry of the USSR.

1975-1976 - Geodetic layout of the factory main facilities and workshops and housing estate on open fields on the left bank of Volga river in Ulyanovsk region. Created building industrial base, produced the first cubic meter of concrete. Constructed the first auxiliary facilities, sunk the first pile of the main factory building.

10.06.76 - Official foundation of Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex. The first stone was put in the basis of the first case of future aviagiant. Work was conducted in many global directions: the plant and the enormous inhabited massif were under construction at the same time.

1977-1980 - Launch of the first start-up complex- foundation of the aircraft manufacturing plant, introduction of the technical documentation for manufacture of An-124 ’Ruslan’ aircraft, construction of new facilities and workshops of the aviation complex, simultaneous construction of the housing estate and infrastructure of the New City.

July, 1981 - the first detail for the Ruslan An-124 plane was produced.

March, 1984 - the Order on a mass production of the An-124 transport plane was signed.

On October 10, 1985 - First Ruslan An-124 aircraft was transported from final Assembly shop.

30.10.1985 - Flight of the first transport aircraft An-124 ‘Ruslan’ manufactured by Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex. Named “Ruslan”, the aircraft made sensation on prestigious international air shows.

1986-1990 - Start-up of the main production facilities, launch production of passenger aircraft Tu-204

17.08.1990 - The first flight of passenger aircraft Tu-204 manufactured by Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex, marking the beginning of the family of passenger and cargo aircraft.

6.06.91 - The first flight of the first serial civil aircraft An-124-100 ‘Ruslan’.

1992 - Reorganization of Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex named after D.F.Ustinov into Joint Stock Company ‘Aviastar’.

12.02.1993 - The first middle-range freighter Tu-204 with PS-90A engines was manufactured.

11.06.1993 - For the first time, Aviastar-manufactured passenger aircraft Tu-204 with Rolls-Royce engines was exhibited at the International Airshow in Le Bourget (France).

29.05.95 - Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee issued to Aviastar the ‘Production Approval Certificate’ for manufacture of passenger and cargo aircraft of Tu-204 family.

16.08.95 - The first middle-range passenger aircraft Tu-204-100 with PS-90A engines was manufactured.

01.10.98 - The first passenger aircraft Tu-204-100 with Rolls-Royce engines was manufactured under the long-term international contract with the Egyptian company KATO Aromatic.

13.10.98 - The first cargo aircraft Tu-204-120C with Rolls-Royce engines was manufactured under the long-term international contract with the Egyptian company KATO Aromatic.

2000 - By the year 2000, all passenger and cargo modifications of Tu-204 aircraft family- Tu-204-100, Tu-204C, Tu-204-120, Tu-204-120C- have been certified by the Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee of the Russian Federation.

2001 - Russian President Putin V.V. visited Tu-204-100 aircraft (64020) on the International Exhibition "MAX-2001"

2002 - Aviastar-SP took part in Farnborough International Airshow.

2003 - Tu-204-300 prototype construction was at the end. After being displayed at MAKS-2005 TU-204-300 was put to the certification tests.

2004 - TU-204-300, S\N 64026, successfully performed its first maiden non-stop flight to Vladivostok. Volga-Dnepr and Polyot airlines took delivery of AN-124-100.

2005 - TU-204-300 certification tests were complete. The aircraft was on exhibition at MAKS-2005. “VladivostokAvia” airlines took delivery of 4 TU-204-300s.

2006 - New Tu-204СЕ planes for the Cuban airline "Cubana de Aviacion" and Tu-204-120CE for China are constructed on "Aviastar".

2007 - 2 passenger and 1 cargo Tu-204 a/c were introducted into service for “Cubana de Aviacion” together with Tu-204-300 a/c for Korea airline “Air Koryo”.

2008 - “Vladivostok  Avia” airline was enlarged with two Tu-204-300 a/c. Tu-204-100B was introducted into service for “Red Wing” airline.

2009 - Two aircrafts Tu-204-100B of Red Wings airline was introducted into service. Cargo Tu-204СЕ was received by the Cuban airline "Cubana de Aviacion". The project of production of new updating of the Tu-204 plane – the Tu-204СМ model has started. Together with it, the development of a new product "476" began at the enterpris. Management of "Aviastar" carried out large-scale work on preparation of the enterprise to renewal of production of heavy transport aircrafts An-124-100 "Ruslan".

March 04, 2010 - Aircraft Tu-204-100B was introducted from «Ulyanovsk - East» airport into service for AIR KORYO airline (Korea)

April 07, 2010 - Tu-204-300A is introducted into service for «VTB leasing».

April 28, 2010 - Ceremony of transfer to the customer – Aviastar-Tu airlines – two new cargo airliners Tu-204-100C through the leasing company JSC IFC.

April 30, 2010 - Sergey Gennadevich Dementyev was appointed the Director general of JSC Aviastar-SP

2010 - Construction of the first flight sample of the transport plane of new updating Il-76 was begun.

December 30, 2010 - the first test flight of Tu-204СМ – new updating of the plane of Tu-204 family was made. The aircraft received the new onboard equipment and the auxiliary power plant. Engines, the chassis and a cabin underwent serious modernization.

April 22, 2011- April 23, 2011 - "Aviastar" for two days became a business platform of the International air-transport forum where key questions of Russian aviation were discussed.

November 30, 2011 - In JSC Aviastar-JV territory in the case 1В solemn start of construction of Aerokompozit plant on release of units from composite materials took place.

2012 - Under Agreement on production cooperation between CJSC 'Aviastar-SP' and 'Sukhoi Civil Airplanes' (GSS) company, assembly and interior installation operations began.

January 20, 2012 - during a working trip of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation D.O.Rogozin to the Ulyanovsk region solemn transfer of the second plane Tu-204-300 (in a VIP-complete set) took place. The special flight group "Russia" of Administration of the President of the Russian Federation became the customer of the liner.

April 12, 2012 - the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and JSC Aviastar-SP signed the contract on modernization and extension of a resource of the Ruslan An-124 planes belonging to transport aircraft of the Russian Federation.

October 04, 2012 - The first demonstration flight of a new aircraft in the presence of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin took place. The contract for supplying the Ministry of Defense with a batch of airplanes was signed the same day.  

January 21, 2013 - The results of the regional contest 'Ecologist of the Year' were summed up in the Ulyanovsky region. CJSC 'Aviastar-SP' was the first in the nomination for 'The best natural resource user organization'.

January 24, 2013 - Tu-204-300, belonging to airline «Vladivostok Avia», delivered on the Russian land a torch for the Kazan Universiade of 2013.

January 28, 2013 - IL-76MD-90A airplane flight model, which was produced in CJSC 'Aviastar-SP', took a successful flight according to the plant flight testing programme after painting as well as system and equipment workout at 'Ulyanovsk-Vostochniy' airport.

January 30, 2013 - IL-76MD-90A airplane flight model, produced in CJSC «Aviastar-SP», departed Ulyanovsk for Zhukovskiy town, located near Moscow, to proceed with flight testing.

March 18, 2013 - IL-76MD-90A, the Russian CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’-made modified transport aircraft, performed its first test flight in Zhukovskiy near Moscow.

April 10, 2013 - A ceremony of presenting the first housing program participants with apartment keys was held in CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’.

April 17, 2013 - Another airplane ‘Ruslan’ An-124-100 was transferred to the buyer through the Ministry of Defense air park renewing program.

April 18, 2013 - The Ulyanovsky aircraft building plant CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ introduced into service a new Tu-204-100C freighter for the airline ‘Transaero’.

April 23, 2013 - The ‘Aviastar-SP’ Director General, Sergey Gennadyevich Dementyev is among 100 of the outstanding production managers according to the annual ‘Russia’s industrial elite – 100 outstanding production managers’ rating.

May 16, 2013 - Interior assembly on another ‘Sky Aviation’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 was completed at ‘Aviastar’.

May 21, 2013 - Airplane IL-76MD-90A, produced in CJSC «Aviastar-SP» completed an early flight development testing stage.

May 24, 2013 - The All-Russian suppliers conference ‘IL-76: yesterday, today, tomorrow’ took place at the Ulyanovsky aircraft building plant ‘Aviastar-SP’.

May 31, 2013 - Certification tests of the aircraft Tu-204CM, produced in CJSC «Aviastar-SP», were completed. Based on their results a new passenger airliner received its supplemental type certificate which allows Tu-204CV to operate by the utmost aviation rules.

August 27, 2013 - IL-76MD-90A, produced in CJSC «Aviastar-SP», took part in the flight program ‘MAX-2013’ for the first time. At the airshow opening the aircraft operated by the captain and Russia’s Hero, Nikolay Kuimov, took its demonstration flight. On carrying out its program IL-76MD-90A was statically exposed throughout the airshow ‘MAX-2013’.

October 24, 2013 - CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ completed another aircraft An-124-100 modernization. The aircraft ‘Ruslan’ was introduced into service for the operator company.

October 31, 2013 - ‘Aviastar-SP’ was honored with the ‘Aviation Worker of the Year’ award in the following categories: ‘The best innovation project’, ‘A new model introduction’.

November 26, 2013 - CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ is a winner of  the ‘Russian high social performance company’ contest in the category ‘Social partnership development in manufacturing companies’.

November 27, 2013 - In 2013 CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ successfully fulfilled contract terms and conditions on AN-124-100 modernization for Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

December 2, 2013 - CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ was registered in the National Register ‘Russia’s leading scientific organizations of 2013’ as a dominating organization in scientific work.

December 4, 2013 - Remodeled  transport airplane IL-76MD-90A completed its first stage of national united tests.

December 20, 2013 - The Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, visited CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’. During the visit he was acquainted with the production of up-to-date transport aircraft IL-76MD-90A.

December 26, 2013 - The Olympic torch arrived to CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’. The Ulyanovsky aircraft plant became the only company to be honoured to pick it up. The Director General, Sergey Dementyev, was the first to take up the legendary torch.  

January 30, 2014 - CJSC ‘Aviastar-SP’ became a regional winner in the All-Russian contest ‘Russian high social performance company’ in the category ‘Social partnership development in manufacturing companies’.
